ooooh. That's a tough one to answer. While there were many pets I was very excited to get, there is a shorter list of ones I was thrilled to get, I think those would have to be pets with a limited window to farm them, like seasonal pets, or pets with excrutiatingly long farm times. And I can't forget pets that I never thought I would ever be able to get for myself, because I don't play the wow TCG, and don't want to spend very much on digital pets.
ReplyDeleteIts easy to pick just one pet, not at all! There are a lot of beloved pets in my collection, but I think the most thrilling one was the Bananas, which I never would have bought for myself, but was lucky enough to win on this blog. There were only 2 TCG pets that tempted me strongly enough to search ebay for a lucky low-priced auction (which I never found) and Bananas was one of them! I love having him so much now :)
It may sound silly, especially since they are so easily attainable, but I was so excited to get my Moonkin Hatchling (how clever that there is a different version depending on if your Alliance or Horde). I love how it runs around behind my characters making Azeroth and Outland a more beautiful place—one flower at a time. :)
ReplyDeleteIf there was any one pet that I was thrilled to get...
ReplyDeleteIt has to be the Kirin Tor Familiar. I don't know if I just liked the brutal idea of a scavenger hunt with the books, or I just loved the idea of being a person owned one...But when I got it I was tremendously excited and relieved. It looks like Cotton Candy too, which helps my love for it.
I was most excited to receive my Lashtail Hatchling. I grew so attached to her when I started that quest chain. I was so upset when they took him from me. It was like they took my baby away. I had to form a rescue team and go in to save her. Now she is safe and with me again. I love to watch her throw bones at my companions. She truly is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI was most excited to get the Crawling Claw. As soon as I saw it in the Cataclysm beta it remembered me of Thing T. Thing (Addams Familiy) and I was curious if it would be able to do the same moves. Sadly it wasn´t, b ut the hours of farming were definetely worth it as I got the blue AQ Tank, too :)
ReplyDeleteFor me, no contest, The Sprite Darter hatchling! First time i saw this pet was in boody bay. I had an insterst in mini pets, and this one was just so cute. I asked the player where he got it. He said it started from a quest in Feralas. After i did the quest chain and raised my pet i was trilled! It was so much fun, and i wish there were still pet quests like that.
ReplyDeletealso, i cant find your email for the spectral kitten contest. the links aren't working for me =(
For me its quite simple... Celestial Dragon... I have loved the model since I first saw it back in 2008. Unfortunately I was unable to get a Spirit of Competition pet because I was on a study abroad during the time it was available and by the time I was able to get back it was no longer available. Therefore I was really happy when I saw that the model was available in 4.2 as the celestial dragon. I got it couple weeks ago and haven't pulled another pet out since.
ReplyDeleteWell, my main, Boomies, is an engineer. She's named after her engineering - I thought it would be cute to have a darling little pink-haired gnome girl who was a warrior and had guns and bombs. So it was mining and engineering and omg how much mithril? Sigh...
ReplyDeleteSo I've been fond of the mechanical pets: the Pet Bombling was grand, Lil Smokey is fun, and the Clockwork Rocket Bot is a huge laugh.
But what pet was I most thrilled to get? That's easy. It represents the best of the game for me - the sense of humor, the quirkyness, the depth of consitancy of the art and world design - and the magic of my first experiences with WoW, when it was all fresh and new... that would be my Mechanical Squirrel, Sparky.
Making my own stuff was awesome. That first silver plated shotgun was a major victory! Bombs that got better and better were great - and there it was, stuck off of the crafting tree on the side like some odd fruit - the first pet you can make. I remember how long it took me to save up for those two Malachite for his pretty green eyes...
Anyway, that's my story.
Oh my goodness! It's so hard to choose! LOL
ReplyDeleteI guess the one I was most shocked and thrilled was when I logged in one day and found in my mail the Cenarian Hatchling and Lil Ragnaros. (Only say both because they were a "pair" when I got them.) And along with those my boyfriend sent me an ingame mail saying he was sorry about the fight we had earlier and hoped that this made me forgive him. Did it? YES!
That is why the Cenarian Hatchling and Lil Ragnaros are one of my most favorite sentimental pets. And those are one of a few my boyfriend helped me get.
That is a really easy question for me :)
ReplyDeleteBack when Wrath was being released some friends asked if I wanted to come to London for the midnight release to get the collector's edition. I was just going to order it off amazon, just I figured this would be more fun! When the day actually came, only 5 of the original dozen people who were going to go actually went, but we had a merry old time anyway. As you do, we started chatting to the people in the queue around us, taking turns to hop accross the road to fetch coffee ect, then we asked the question "so what server are you from"? to the people around us. The answer came back "THUNDERHORN!" well I was shocked, there we were in line with another group of players, from our server! not only that, they played the same faction too. We exchanged character names and then it was time to move in. At that point two of these new lovely people I had met that were on my server whipped out a parrot, an eye patch, some blood elf ears andtook off their coats to reveal some pretty nice costumes :) One was a defias pirate, the other a blood elf rogue. They looked fantastic! So I asked if they would mind me taking a photo for the contest, and they agreed and even posed! I got a lovely picture and sent it in the next morning (well, I had to do something while it was installing!)
To my complete surprise, about two months later what should appear in my inbox but a gurkey code from blizz! :O I had to check it over about a hundred times that it wasnt a fake. I had won! I dont think the excitement died down for a few months, not only did I get to meet some pretty lovely people from my own server, but I had a baby murloc to call my own :)
I love Egbert! Shortly after I got him I was leveling my fishing and much to my surprise he kept running around. I'm a retired 5th grade teacher and really miss it; this was a nice reminder of all of the antics my kids did over the years :)
ReplyDeleteI think I was most excited to get Kirin Tor familiar. It was my first real grind for a pet. I got most of the book within a few weeks but the last one eluded me for months! So i think I literally scream when I found the last book.
ReplyDeleteI was also really excited to get the Phoenix Hatchling. My boyfriend was running me through Magistar's Terrace and I think it dropped the 2nd or 3rd time. He won the roll for it but let me have it! Sweetest boyfriend ever! Then it dropped for me two more times as I was trying for the mount! It actually hurt to sell these to the vendor. My Boyfriend was very frustrated, but got his shortly after.
I was the most thrilled to get my Cenarian Hatchling. This was a pet I assumed I'd never have access to, since it was originally a rare TGC item. But then Blizzard released it to the masses, and I could not be happier.
ReplyDeleteMagical Crawdad probably takes a close second; primarily due to the fact that it is a MAGICAL crawdad. It took forever to fish up, but I was lucky. :)
What pet were you most thrilled to get and why?
ReplyDeleteI was most thrilled to get my murkimus. ^^ This was the pet I feel like i worked the hardest for. I am not the best pvper but I organized a team of 3 other players plus myself (we had an extra player) and man was it painful. >.< I love murlocs and having a murloc dress gladiator makes me oh so happy. ^^
The pet I was most thrilled to get was my Crimson Whelpling (the second time). I had it drop for me when I was but a lowbie playing my first ever character (On my boyfriend's account at the time), and as soon as I got it I bound it to me. Only a bit later did I find out how rare/valuable it was, and it became a point of pride for me. Things went downhill with my boyfriend and I and he deleted my character out of spite.
ReplyDeleteI bought my own account not long after that, and spent all my time trying to farm the Crimson Whelpling, and it made me really appreciate how easy I had it the first time. Finally, after a few months of farming, it dropped for me again, and I was back to having my beloved companion, and I was overjoyed.
Ok, so some people might laugh about this, but I will say I was most thrilled to get Mojo. After countless runs through ZA during BC and LK I was never able to get Mojo. Then, just before Cata came out I decided to take a break for WoW. After a year off I decided to come back and play again. Several more runs through the new ZA and I finally got him. I was so excited. The irony behind the whole farming for Mojo...my alt went in and got Mojo on her her FIRST run!!!! How funny is that.
ReplyDeleteTo pick the one pet I was excited to get is hard. I am currently working hard to get my 150 pet achievement and went to farm the dark whelping. I sat down at my desk and was in for the long haul. After about fifteen minutes of farming it dropped. I actually did a fist pump when I saw it dropped. I so excited that I was one pet closer to 150 and that it only took a fraction of the time I was expecting. I think my guild mates that were on mumble with me at the time thought I was crazy. Because I was talking on mumble and when it dropped I was got that excited voice while telling them about the quick drop.
ReplyDeleteThe magical crawdad was pretty awesome also because of the randomness of it and the fact that it took me almost two months of trying to finally get the pet. I can member getting the achievement and thinking I was king kool at the time.
The pet I was most thrilled about was the Emerald Whelpling. It was Vanilla WoW and dragons just seemed so epic to me. It was my first lil' dragon pet, and it was a surprise gift from my husband. A close second comes the Searing Scorchling, which I just finally got after not getting it the first Fire Festival they dropped.
ReplyDeleteOh man, most excited to get.. I would have to say Hyacinth Macaw. I farmed many months for that lil bugger :) I logged on one morning in the middle of the pirates and one started hitting me. I smacked him and looted getting ready to hit my hearth and there he was! Beautiful and all mine :) Now this may change when the Fox Kit decides to drop lol :)
ReplyDeleteI was the most thrilled to get a Hyacinth Macaw. Not because it was worth tons of money or anything but it was my very first non-combat pet in the game, and to make matters better (or worse for those farming him) I equipped him right away entirely oblivious to how rare he actually was. I'd have him out everywhere I possibly could, people would always comment about him, etc. and then I eventually realized how low his droprate was and my mind was blown by how lucky I got. This was all WAY back in pre-TBC times, when there weren't many non-combat pets found via drop.
ReplyDeleteThe pet I was most excited about was getting the moonkin hatchling, because hes just so cute, and I want one to cuddle irl!
ReplyDeleteHe was also a gift from my boyfriend for our 6 month anniversary and as I'm struggling to find more pets without spending lots of money irl, which isnt easy since I'm only 16 years old & I'm really really unlucky with farming for the rare pets, over 2 years now and I haven't got any of them.
My second would probably have to be Landros Lil XT because I've never seen anyone on my server with him and I always get asked about him :)
Most thrilled I was for the giant rat from Dalaran. I guess i was the most unlucky person fishing that pet...
ReplyDeleteNow my goal is Rocket Chicken but is a little too expensive :<
The Wyvern Cub because he was just so adorable and you got a stuffed toy as well. I also have the Gryphon Hatchling and I wish Blizzard would offer more stuffed animals that come with in-game pets.
ReplyDeleteI was most excited to get Lurky the baby murloc. I've always wished for a Murloc, but when I started playing a good bit in to TBC, it was really hard to find TBC Collectors Editions. But one day at a supermarket, I find one, and it's only 15 euro! I was so excited! I hurried home to find out I had to go through the hassle of sending a lot of information to Paris by letter. A few weeks passed, and no Lurky, so I had to call the Blizzard support and ask where my Lurky was. Then the Blizzard person made my Lurky come to my account! ;D He's been my favorite every since.!
ReplyDeleteI think I was most thrilled to be my worg pup. Yeah he's a plain pet and easy to get but I love wolves. And when I pull him out on my hunter it looked like he's my pet's pup. =)
ReplyDeleteI think I was most excited to get the Winterspring cub. It's not rare, but it is cute, and people on my server didn't seem to know about it yet. I bought a ton of them and gave them to guildies, I just thought it was adorable.
ReplyDeleteWhat pet were you most thrilled to get and why?
ReplyDeleteThis is a really hard choice! I'd have to say my most thrilling pet to work towards was the hyacinth macaw. I had been pining after it for a long, long time, never having enough gold to buy him, when I finally decided to bite the bullet and farm him after moving to a new server. It couldn't have been 5 minutes before he dropped! I was so surprised. Definitely one of my favorite pets by far. Love that he matches my pet, Aotona, too!
ashmeg87@msn.com
Definitely my sunflower. I am not now, nor have I ever been good at Plants vs Zombies, but I wanted it so much that I spent a solid four hours trying to beat the quest chain.
ReplyDeleteAt least I have awesome guildies who cheered me on the whole way... They all fell in love with my sunflower and had to get one, then!
I most excited to get the Perky Pug! I have 2 pugs at home and when I saw it I just HAD to have it!! Everytime she barks it makes our younger pug bark, it's so funny. I love have true to life the pug traits are.. makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI love all of my pets.. but since I can choose only one it would be the white kitten. I hadn't been playing the game long when I first saw Timmy and heard his plea for help in finding a home for this beautiful kitten. Being a lover of all things feline I just couldn't say no :) Soon after that the Calico, Bombay, Cornish Rex, Orange Tabby, Siamese, Silver Tabby and Black Tabby have all found forever homes with my priest.
ReplyDeleteFor me it was the original Hippogriff hatchling! I missed the preorder for the TCG card set and I thought I'd never get my hands on this little guy! Turns out later on after they came out on cards, one of my friends actually purchased it from Ebay for me! I was shocked because back then they were pretty expensive still! It was one of the sweetest things one of my WoW friends had ever done for me! I have the greatest friends!
ReplyDeleteGotta say the Lashtail Hatchling. I had just started playing WoW last year when I did the quest chain in Stranglethorn where you find a hatchling. I assumed, in my noobness, you'd get to keep the hatchling at the end of the quest. I was determined to keep that little bugger so I happily continued to quest, enjoying my new little buddy. Finally, after spending SIX HOURS trying to escape ZG, I came to the horrid realization that she was to be taken from me:(
ReplyDeleteI had a smile a mile wide when I saw that little baby tethered in ZG just waiting for me to save her. Made me feel all sentimental and stuff:P
The last comment was from Erin (Eilara on Wow), email ws6transamgirl@aol.com. Dunno why its not showing my contact information.
ReplyDeleteAh, one day I'd found a reasonably priced Dragon Kite on ebay, but after paying for it, I was informed they were out of stock. but I could choose another and they'd ask a lower price for it. Then I saw they had an Ethereal Soul-Trader, my favourite TCG pet, after going through price negotiations, they informed me that they'd found another Dragon Kite, which I had to settle for instead. :(
ReplyDeleteSo the one I was most excited for, goes to the parrot spawn of Satan, the Hyacinth Macaw. I decided to grind this thing before Cata so was restricted to killing pirates and there are few words to describe how [censored for your viewing pleasure] frustrating this was, but atleast 4 epics, a Pirate Hat (with the same drop rate as the parrot /flinch), six days and over 13,000 dead pirates, it finally dropped, resulting in a triumphant "YES!" and a painful hand after slamming it in to my desk.
After Cata I was in STV, helping my friend get through quests quickly, killing murlocs and...guess what dropped.
I think I have to go with my most recent pet, the Searing Scorchling. It has been the bane of my main's existence that it kept slipping from my grasp during Ahune attempts years ago.
ReplyDeleteRight, so to give a better idea of why this particular pet became my most precious/special one;
ReplyDeleteI am originally from Sweden but live in Georgia, USA now since almost 5 years back due to work. I don't get to go back home very often for this reason. I kept my EU copy of WoW since then so I could still talk to my friends back home, but due to work and timezone differences it does not happen all that often.
About a year or so ago I wasn't feeling at my best due to these circumstances and was struggling with work. I had been collecting pets on and off by then and was really beginning to like it, but at 74 pets I became "stuck" due to the ones I needed being RNG drops (whelps and the like). I got a bit frustrated then, to say the least.
A very precious friend then stepped up and not only helped pull me out of my depression, but also did something no other friend had done before.
That particular day, she suddenly started writing in caps; yelling for me to stay put and not do a thing. I, completely taken off guard and not knowing what to make of it, waited. "Check your email" she then said. And I did. She'd bought me Lil' K.T, and I honestly cried upon seeing the little bugger in game. He was the first pet I'd ever gotten out of the game and he instantly became my favorite; Reminding me of what an incredible friend I have, and that I'm not alone when things get rough <3
She was also very proud and happy to have contributed to my 75th pet achievement.
Now I can't help but laugh out loud every time Lil' K.T. freezes a critter and cackles... it's so adorable.
Sorry for the long post, but yeah, that's my story. x)
It seems I am having a hard time posting on this...So I shall try again! I must share my love for....STINKER!!!! Ever since I had seen these adorable little skunks running around the forests I had wanted one as a pet. The first time I had seen one I was telling all my friends and guildies that they had to see them cause they were the cutest thing ever and how much I wanted one as a pet! =D Imagine my surprise and joy when Blizz said they were going to have pet achievements and that the adorable little skunk I had been wanting to have by my side for so long was to finally be mine! I made sure I had all the required pets (and then some) to be sure that the day I was first able to get him, he would be by my side forever more. When I opened the mail and saw his sweet little face with a note asking me to care for him, what could I say but YES! My pleasure =D And now he is with me to love him and hug him and kiss him forever and EVER!!!!
ReplyDeleteThats a difficult question to answer but i guess the pet i was most thrilled to get was my mummified monkeys paw from archeology, as soon as i saw it on test realms i knew i had to have it! i just never knew how rare them silly tol'vir dig sites were at the time.
ReplyDeletei literally ended up spending months alone in that continent farming for that pet, didnt' do anything else, not even dungeons! and i prefered sitting out of raids just so i could dig some more:D people ended up calling me a meerkat from that lions king film that just digged all day.
The day i finally saw that pet appear on my next to complete lift i had a brief heart attack but was so relieved at the same time! Well worth the digging..well worth it
The pet I was most thrilled to get would have to be Bananas. This pet had always been something I wanted really bad...how could you not with a face like that monkey. :) I remember it was also my very first loot card...therefore when it came in the mail I jumped up and down for about an hour before I rushed onto WoW to retrieve this cute pet.
ReplyDeleteshantelj87@gmail.com
Oh this one is easy!
ReplyDeleteWhen I initially started collecting pets it was not an activity pursued by many. I wanted something bright and noticeable. I convinced some guildys and for a few days we farmed MGT for the Phoenix Hatchling. While it is not necessarily a rare pet to have with a drop rate of 1 in 16 it was most certainly an eye catcher, especially when sporting a happy pet treat for extra sparkle! Now if only I could get the matching mount...
On my first main, who I don't play anymore I once got the hyacinth macaw off of the AH for like 35s. This was back before it was considered epic but even then I knew it was rare. I wish I could transfer the pet to my main now but it's one reason I'll never delete that character.
ReplyDeleteTough question...
ReplyDeleteI would say my first pet though. It was on my very first day of WoW, & it was a trial account back then too. My friend showed me how to get the Westfall Chicken. (Prairie Chicken back then!) I named her Clucky!I love all my pets, but Clucky was my first!
I would have to say the Magic Lamp is my favorite, merely because a dear friend of mine made it for me at some cost when I was feeling down. Now when I summon it I always remember that someone cares.
ReplyDeleteI was most excited when I heard about the singing sunflower from warcraftpets. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. The reason I was so excited for this particular pet was because of my love for sunflowers. Surprisingly it took a but longer to get than I would have expected as I didn't do so well at the game! Regardless, I got the sunflower and was super excited!
ReplyDeleteThis is so hard to answer! I think getting my orange tabby. I had an orange tabby at the time named Tomis who spent all his time on a desk beside mine. He had his bed, food and water up there. He was my WoW buddy, and I'd always find myself reaching over to pet him, or he'd reach over and give me a poke when he wanted treats. I was devastated when he passed away at 16, so my orange tabby always reminds me of him. I still miss him.
ReplyDeleteThe pet I was most thrilled to get was a surprise birthday gift from my husband and my guildmates. I was utterly stunned to log into game that day to discover that these wonderful people had pooled money to purchase me a spectral kitten! Ever since I first laid eyes on that adorable etheral beauty I'd absolutely adored it. I'm proud to have the little kitten follow me around in my adventures as a reminder of the happiness and love of my friends and family. It will always be the pet I was most grateful and surprised to have gotten. <3
ReplyDeleteI would have to say the pet I was most excited to get to date was the Vampiric Batling. I wasn't in the core raid group and I didn't think I'd be able to get one before the scourge event was over - but some friends and I (who were not the best players at the time) threw together a group and got the kill after many wipes granting us the pet! We were all noobs at the time. It's a reminder of those days and the friendships we have - many of us still play together.
ReplyDeleteThe pet I was the most thrilled to get was probably my Hyacinth Macaw. I had spent a month farming it, and it was the last pet in the game that I could obtain without spending any real life money on cards from the TCG at the time. I still had no luck getting it to drop, so I pleaded on our realm forums for help. A kind alliance PAID for the race change and sold me the pet for a very reasonable 8500g, which is a lot less money than I see it go for now a days! And to make it even better, a few guildmates loaned me the gold so I could get it right away, since I didn't have that much money at that time! It really meant a lot to me!
ReplyDeleteI think the pet I was most excited to get was the Emerald Whelp. During the Burning Crusades, I would get done with dailies and start farming for it. After raiding I would farm for it. It never dropped. It wasn't until during cataclysm that someone put it up on AH for super cheap that I was able to get the little guy. It was still a very exciting moment for me to finally have him fluttering by my side.
ReplyDeleteOh that's difficult to choose...I've been an avid pet collector on all games I play, but I would have to pick my Lashtail Hatchling. I was SO sad when she was stolen from me by Bloodlord Mandokir! The next day I saw her again with those big blue eyes of hers...poor thing was being held hostage! I couldn't just walk away after slaying the Bloodlord...I had to rescue my poor hatchling! Vela hasn't left my side since :)
ReplyDeleteThe pet that I was most excited to get (Not to be confused with favorite pet, necessarily...) was the Elementium Geode. I had a very rough first few months this year and, as a result, I was away from the game for those months.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine was speaking to a friend of theirs, whom I did not know. They spoke of my troubles to this stranger, and that stranger went to my Warcraft Pets account to see what pets I didn't have.
When I was finally able to log in to the game again, I found an Elementium Geode in my mailbox from a complete stranger, along with a note that said they were praying for me.
Needless to say, I sobbed. But it was a happy sob. =)
My curious oracle, I always thought they were cool and was extremely excited when I got him, he has been through many raid bosses.
ReplyDeleteMy answer would have to be the adorable Pandaren Monk. I got him as a present from my husband, also a WoW player, to celebrate my birthday. The donation to the Make a Wish Foundation was an added bonus. He's is fantastic in every way: animation, audio, cuteness factor, interaction. 'Kung Fu Panda' is one of my all time favorite movies, so it's like having Po around, fighting evil and being awesome with me :)
ReplyDeletemy most favorite pet aquisition was actually my Ethereal Soul Trader. People are often saying on the forums "oh well if I paid money for it, it's not as good as farming" That could not be more true. When I REALLY got into pet collecting, I decided to go for the TCG pets. I managed to get all of them by the EST. I camped on WoWTCGLoot.com and eBay like it was my job. I watched prices like a hawk and was careful with my bids. Finally, FINALLY, I snagged one for $120, held my breath til the card arrived, and entered the code. the Soul Trader was MINE.
ReplyDeleteAt Blizzcon last year, Daldain (owner of WoWTCGLoot) brought shirts for those of us active in his chat channel. It was a shirt with my username, avatar and a picture of the Ethereal Soul Trader card. I love that shirt.
What pet were you most thrilled to get and why?
ReplyDeleteI about fainted when after over 2.2k bug-kills the captured firefly dropped for me. It was so memorable and special because all my guildies knew how long I had languished in Zangarmash getting ganked for the pet and when I /gasped and linked in gChat they all came unglued for me. That pet is adorable, rare and sentimental because of the warm fuzzies I had the day he finally adopted me.
The Pet I was most thrilled to get was probably the first pet I actually farmed for, the Dark Whelpling. A friend and I went and farmed whelplings for hours trying to get it. When the pet finally dropped, He ended up getting 2 nearly in a row. He was nice enough to share. After that point I've been hooked on collecting them.
ReplyDeleteI'd always hoped for the Hyacinth Macaw, but I thought it's rarity would put it out of my reach. So I just hoped I'd get lucky like Drrum and find it on the AH for cheap, so I scanned it everyday, sometimes several times a day.
ReplyDeleteAfter Cataclysm came out I saw it was on the AH much more, and saw that it was now a possible drop from any mob in Stranglethorn. I planned on making a worgen to see how I'd like the race, and figured if I'm going to level it up, I might as well go to Stranglethorn and try my luck. So every time I killed something I'd hope I'd get it, closing my eyes while I looted, and probably a few dozen quests in I GOT IT!!! So excited, I mailed it immediately to my main character, learned it and just stood around in Stormwind fishing for complements. After a bit I went back to grinding out quests, still high off my luck. A few dozen more quests, and BAM, another one! I was going to learn it on another character, but couldn't pass up the chance to make a little extra gold, so I put it on the AH.
I just love the bizarre appearance of the wolpertinger. After all who doesn’t like getting smashed and hunting for these furry little beasts?
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt: the Gundrak hatchling! I had farmed so long for that pet, and yet it eluded me since WoLK. I finally said screw it, I'll just buy the damn thing. Except there were never any on the auction house. It was like this cute little raptor didn't exist! I pretty much gave up all hope and even took him off my "wanted" list on Warcraft Pets. And then I got the surprise of me life on my birthday this past summer: my best friend had secretly farmed for months trying to get the hatchling for me and he somehow was successful and presented it to me in a red wrapped gift on my birthday :D :D :D I literally screamed irl when I right clicked open *giggle* Best. Birthday. Gift. Ever.
ReplyDeleteWhere to start.....
ReplyDeleteWell probably the most exciting pet that I ever got was the phoenix hatchling, day after day farming that instance when it first came out and finally after 3 weeks it dropped :D I was so damn happy!!!! I had the biggest smile on my face! But now that I write this I realize that every time that I have a drop of a new pet I get that smile :)
For me it was the Armadillo Pub!
ReplyDeleteWhen it came out it would be part of an achieve killing 50k critters, i just surfed the internet looking how to get it as fast as possible.
The problem was I didn't have Cataclysm, cause I ordered it online and the Onlineshop delivered it 3 days later, so that I just went to the cave at eastern plaguelands and ran night and day through it, having another char standing at Agmar's Hammer killing rats with just a few seconds of respawn, while awating the respawn in the cave.
I got 19k critters while my whole guild was just enjoying Cataclysm having no mind on what i did for the guild (and surely especially for me) !
Well that thing above didn't work for me^^

The problem was I didn't have Cataclysm, cause I ordered it online and the Onlineshop delivered it 3 days later, so that I just went to the cave at eastern plaguelands and ran night and day through it, having another char standing at Agmar's Hammer killing rats with just a few seconds of respawn, while awating the respawn in the cave.
I got 19k critters while my whole guild was just enjoying Cataclysm having no mind on what i did for the guild (and surely especially for me) !
I think the most exciting pet for me was the Mechanical Squirrel, having obtained it at level 19 on my very first character. It was the pet that started my downward spiral into obsessive collection of companions, and I still love it dearly to this day, despite the ease of acquiring it. Sometimes the simplicity of a good pet is all that matters ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat pet was I most thrilled to get and why? My first, which was the Crimson Whelpling. I had seen some one standing around the IF bank with it and had asked my friend what that little creature was. Being a noob to the game at the time, I had no idea that these little companions existed. I was bummed, knowing that I didn't have enough gold in game to buy my next meal let alone such a cute little pet. A couple months later I logged into my account on my birthday. There in the mail, wrapped in wrapping paper, was the Crimson Whelpling. My friend had scrimped, saved and borrowed to buy one for me. With that one little gift my love of companion collecting began. Couldn't think of a better way to start off my birthday.
ReplyDeleteFor sure my Crimson Hatchling. It's the first pet I decided to earn on my own rather than buying off the auction house, and it was days of grinding before I finally got him. Absolutely worth it though, cute little dragon.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my azure whelp. It was a huge surprise to me just running around winterspring questing then boom it dropped! My little buddy started my love for collecting :D
ReplyDeleteLike many other posters, this is a hard question for me. My main character, Blakstone, is a druid. He does not like to kill animals unless he has no choice. This makes grinding for certain pets a moral dilemma for him.
ReplyDeleteSince Tol Barad opened though, he has been killing every fox he sees while doing the daily quests. It became a sad habit since all he wants to a kit to raise.
Two weeks ago, the soulbound (quite right) Fox Kit dropped. It is a wonderful pet that I often enjoy as I still quest in the zone. But now the massacre has stopped.
My firefly, as it was given to me by a friend who is now no longer playing the game. At the time, it was the first big gift ever given to me in-game.
ReplyDeleteHmmm 2 of my pets I think can't choose just one. 1st is azure whelping.always wanted blizzard to add a blue one (was black, green and red pets) and I loved the blue whelps in winterspring and was devastated I couldn't get one. When they finally added them i killed yhose dragons in azshara for 1 & half days as soon as patch hit before it dropped.
ReplyDelete2nd pet would be the elusive hyacinth macaw.was grinding those bloodsail bucaneers for YEARS! Since i found out about it till it dropped days before cata patch hit! Was about a week after i went wrong way to argent tournament and ran into time lost protodrake literally! (Yes i am a total girl with directions) was a fab week and tge macaw I had wanted for years dropping was fab and better than the mount as i had been wanting it so much longer!
Hmm hard to say for me for I have many pets and the animations for some are pure awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteThink I'll have to go with my Giant Sewer Rat though. Spent many a day fishing the Dalaran sewers for that guy. In fact I maxed my fishing there XD. Considering I was like over 150 points away from max it was no small thing. When I finally did hook the guy there were several other players next to me that congratulated me including one of the opposing faction XD. Still love this pet. Give it aPapa Hummel's biscuit and it can send the Gnomes running =P .
eeeeek..... Um.... one pet.... that is mean! Lets see, I think possibly my Mookin Hatchling, because it was a suprise gift from my amazing Fiancé, I woke after a really shitty day the day before and a crappy nights sleep to him grinning at me. PC on and email saying you have been gifted.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have squeeled quiet that much for any other pet. So... has to be that one.
<3
Hmm.. I'd have to say Bananas.
ReplyDeleteI already had a few rare pets, but always kept buying TCG packages hoping to get a new pet. Sadly, they're not sold that much over here. I'd have to go to a city that's about 1,5-2 hours drive away to get any.
With every package I opened I realised more and more how tiny the chances were of getting a pet. So I started looking around on Ebay. Just as I was about to place a bid on Bananas, a friend came over with 2 packages (she had just been to that city, and decided to pick some up for me). And guess who's in there, BANANAS!
I don't think I've ever gotten that excited over a pet. Jumped all across the room screaming in excitement :D
Plus ofc, it's one of the cutest pets out there <3
It was a special moment for me to finally obtain the Kirin Tor familiar. Hunting down the books in Dalaran was a very fun but also frustrating experience. But alt least I got to peak into corners where I maybe wouldn't have. Made me also have a closer look to Dalaran architecture and admire some little details I had completely missed while questing and raiding.
ReplyDeleteSome of the books were fun to read, but oh the joy when it was the right one!
Yes, the Kirin Tor familiar would be one of my very special pets that I have.
I would have to say Perky Pug. I have flashier pets that do more tricks or pack heat. I have pets that I got in minutes instead of the many hours or days that others have had to put into them.
ReplyDeleteBut I love dogs, and I have always wanted a pug. This little guy is my favorite. Who doesn't love puppies?!
I'd have to say my favorite pet to have acquired is definitely the Singing Sunflower. It must have taken me 4 hours to complete the mini game to get it, and it was the first time I was honestly ready to quit WoW for a week, but I did it! When I'm sitting in the AH on my bank toon and someone else has their sunflower out, it's happy singing makes it a bit less blah.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, this is hard but I would have to say (today) the Hyacinth Macaw, sadly after farming it forever it never dropped for me. But I got lucky and got her in the AH for super cheap like a month ago. My boyfriend heard me squeal about it and my other pet collector friend quickly told me "I hate you."
ReplyDeleteI've always liked the birds/dragons... (the fliers) but the best part is my character is named Hyakurin - Hyacinth just goes with it!! Plus the colors are right for me with blues/purples you can't go wrong.
I'd have to say it was my Azure Whelp, I got it to remember a friend by, so it goes with me everywhere, & every time it's out I think of all the fun times I had with my friend. ^_^
ReplyDeleteI was most thrilled to get my Giant Sewer Rat. It took me hours and hours and hours and when I finally got it I freaked the heck out. And then I got it again the next day, seemed like such a waste :( Damn you RNG!!
ReplyDeleteThats an easy one! :P
ReplyDeleteMr. Pinchy, i mean its already a lottery to get magical crawdad and then its another to get the pet itself!
I was pretty happy when i got it, cause i was well aware how much time consuming it was.
Sopa of Doomhammer :)
The pet that I was most thrilled to get was my Moonkin Hatchling. Out of all the pets I have collected over the years this has become my favorite because my best friend loved dancing with it in his druid's moonkin form. He recently passed away, and now I have a piece of him that I can carry with my characters, to remind me of him, his genuine joy and love for the oddities in WoW.
ReplyDeleteI am fairly new to World of Warcraft, and I don't really have any super special or rare companion pets (yet). But I was extremely excited about getting my Cenarion Hatchling. My boyfriend is the sole reason I play the game, seeing as how he bought all the expansions for me and some playtime - and one day, he randomly decided to get me two companion pets and two mounts from the Blizzard store. I especially love the Cenarion Hatchling, because I have been in love with it since I first saw it. I love it, and it's the pet I have with me the most.

ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to finally get the phoenix hatchling, after running Magister's Terrace a bunch of times to attempt it. It is such a brilliant looking pet and looks really pretty next to my shadow priest in shadow form!
ReplyDeleteId have to say the Mechanical Squirrel....... but why I love him is the first date my BF and I ever took was too a park for a picnic, as we were sitting eating our sandwhiches squirrels came out from every little tree branch and hole and converged on us. They werent aggresive but waited patiently as if begging dogs lol so in between a small piece of bread tossed at them they would run around chassing each other, it was quite entertaining. Ever since then squirrels have held a special place. I made an Engineering toon so first thing back in the day I did was made us each one of these, so they truely do mean a lot to me and him. <3
ReplyDeleteI've been very lucky in my pet farm, as I haven't had any grinds that took thousands upon thousands of kills for an adorable companion. The fox kit was added to my collection by killing a few here and there, and the hyacinth macaw was bought and given to me by a very dear friend...which is why it's tough to choose just one! I think it would be easier if I had a tale of a long, heroic grind to rescue a cute, fuzzy wuzzy from the jaws of the terrible monster that held it captive. Alas, I do not.
ReplyDeleteAs such, I'd have to pick the vampric batling as the pet I was most thrilled to receive. During the scourge invasion my guild heroicly entered Karazhan and defeated the Prince, receiving the batling for our efforts. The fight may have been simple enough, but the time spent with friends makes it priceless.
My firefly.
ReplyDeleteIt was a gift from a friend. I've tried farming for it for other toons, but have had no luck.
The flavor text is great and it just looks cool. :)
I was thrilled to get Mr. Pinchy! I finally fished up the crawdad to make wishes (it took me about 6000 casts... I have horrible luck). When my first wish was a dud I figured my luck was still its usual non-lucky luck but I kept wishing and hoping. My last wish turned out to be my wonderful pet and I am so happy I finally got him! ^_^
ReplyDeleteI was extremely thrilled to get my Winterspring Kitten pet since the Winterspring Tiger was my favorite mount, having a mini version of it follow me around is just the best!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say the Mini Jadefang. First it took me FOREVER to figure out how to get up there... Once I did I could never to seem to find his spawn time. I must have had Underground Economy for weeks!!!
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite companion has to be Lil'Deathwing. Aside from being a gift from my BF - there's something funny about having the current 'big baddy' following you around while you and your raid are defeating his children. (BWD) xD
ReplyDeleteA tough decision indeed. I was thrilled to get each and every one I own, which is a lot but my favorite one to obtain was the Crawling Claw. It may not be my favorite pet, but doing archaeology for months when I was able and finally seeing the pet brought tears to my eyes. Its cute to boot, who doesn't like the little hand bounding after them? Its so bloody adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe pet I was most excited to get would have to be the armadillo pup. It took us ages to get as a small, casual guild, so when we finally hit the 50k critter kill mark I was ecstatic. I think there were only 3-4 of us actively farming critters for the achievement, while the rest of the numbers came incidentally. It's probably the pet I've worked hardest for, too!
ReplyDeleteWould have to be one of the most recent few...after being so disappointed not seeing a Frigid Frostling from Ahune, and without many other choices for pets left....
ReplyDelete...I was happy to see the Searing Scorchling way earlier then expected in the Molten Front bag, while also finishing the 150 pet achievement!
(Man, is that tough without tcg/blizzstore...)
I think that mine would have to be Armadillo pup sitting committing critter genocide in howling fjord with 3 or 4 other guilidies determined to get it for our guild leaders birthday. Had a lot of fun getting it sitting on vent for 5 odd hours.
ReplyDeleteI realise that the Hyacinth Macaw is a popular choice, but after grinding it on and off for several months (before I found the Bunnyhunter Addon), I finally stepped up to non-stop grinding. My guildies were getting sick of my numerical updates on guild chat where I'd just update them on how many I'd killed and I was ready to cry!
ReplyDeleteThen one day, one of my guildies asked me to come to Dalaran. I assumed he wanted something crafting or enchanting, so hearthed back up (mindfull of the trek back to Booty Bay that would await me) to help... When I found him, I waved, and suddenly a trade window popped up. I didn't recognise the name on it, but worked out it was the non-guilded toon stood next to my guild-mate...
But, instead of the mats to make arrows or to enchang something, the fabled hyacinth macaw popped into the trade window!
I couldn't believe it! I just sat staring at it!
I cancelled the trade and, as my heart was breaking, pointed out to the stranger that they sold for 40k Gold on our server and he should really auction house it. I couldn't take it from him...
"Take it!" both my guildy and the stranger next to him said and the trade window popped up again!
They explained that the stranger was my guildies brother and they'd been having a competition of "who has the worst luck". They started killing pirates just for fun and on the 32nd kill, the macaw dropped for them! They both played regularly and had plenty of gold and didn't need the 40k they might be able to get!
I asked if they were sure and they said they would be delighted if I'd take it - especially if I would stop spamming guild chat with random numbers! :P
I clicked to trade... And tears started streaming down my face! I couldn't believe it... A total stranger was that lovely and generous as to give away something that was trivial to him, yet SO important to me! My partner had to explain to the guild why I was suddenly quiet as I couldn't see to type or do anything! I was stunned and speechless! Not something that happens that often!
I am delighted to say that we also convinced him to join the guild! :)
The most exciting pet ever? It's hard to tell, I always felt thrilled when I was about to get a new companion.
ReplyDeleteBut I remember that the biggest surprise came from the very first pet I managed to get: the Snowshoe Rabbit. My first wow character was a gnome, so I wandered around the snowy areas near Ironforge a lot. I didn't know there actually were things like vanity companions (oh, so noobish!). After purchasing this mysterious item I spent lots of time watching this little fluffy thing following me.
The unexpected presents from friends are the most dear to me. After WEEKS of farming with no success, I received an in-game mail that read: 'Seriously, stop farming and come tank UBRS for us.' Attached was the Disgusting Oozeling. Best surprise ever!
ReplyDeleteI think I was the most excited when the boomkin pet came available to purchase. I hesitated a long time, but I just had to give up on the temptation. Now I couldn't be happier that I have this fluffy, big eyed thing following me in my adventures..
ReplyDeleteI was even more excited when I realized it swaps appearance depending if you are ally or horde. Both versions have their own lil details, cant help loving the earthly tones of horde one and the lil' branches on the head of the ally one. Ever since I bought the lil' fellow it has followed me thru several adventures.
Many peeps still ask me where this flower-growing fluffsy is from and I tell 'em usually that it's my best friend who accidentaly got under beam that transformed her into baby boomkin. :)
The one that stands out the most in my mind at the moment is the somewhat easy to obtain Enchanted Lantern. It's not really about the pet itself (though I do love the style of it) but the story behind it. I play on an RP server, and in a rather romantic move my character's significant other gave it to her. It's an enchanted lantern yes, but he's a fire mage, so the light inside is actually made from his own flames. It was so adorable and awesomely RP'd that I totally got a little sniffly IRL. Add in to that fact that the player of that character is my best friend, and you've got a recipe for a wonderfully memorable pet.
ReplyDeleteOooo.. it's so hard to narrow it down to one, but I think I can safely say the Dark Whelpling. It was memorable because it was the first time I really "farmed" for a pet for a long time. I spent way longer farming Fox Kit or the Magical Crawdad, but the Dark Whelpling still holds a special place in my heart. I was so excited when it dropped I felt like jumping over the moon! I actually didn't farm that long at all, maybe only 2 hours, but back then it seemed like forever. That was a long time ago before they had the pet bar. I actually had a pet "bag" .. one entire bag that was devoted to the pets I loved the most, and I had the rest in my bank.
ReplyDeleteTough choice, but I'd have to say Grunty. He just makes me laugh!
ReplyDeleteThe pet I was most thrilled to get? Kirin Tor Familiar! I didn't sleep for three days, I camped out in Dalaran and got the timers for each book as it came up, creating a dialogue in general chat and grouping with others. In the end 6 or 7 of us got our pet in just 3 days. I texted people I didnt even know to wake them so they could log on and get the book. It was so exciting to be involved with so many other players and all come out with a really awesome pet. He is as tall as my gnome and since I am a warlock I still love having him and my void walker out together to look like I have body guards :) Def. a thrill all around!
ReplyDeleteI farmed for all the farmable pets because I felt more accomplished that way! But I was most thrilled to get the tiny sporebat! When I was leveling my first character to 70 I remember stopping in Zangarmarsh and getting reputation for the sporeggar before continuing in any other zone! It was one of the first pets I worked real hard for!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say the pet I was most thrilled to get would be my Dark Phoenix Hatchling. At the time the United Nations achievement was bugged and only counting 1 person's reputations. I was the closest to 55 reps in my guild and grinded my butt off to get the last few needed for us!
ReplyDeleteAll of the pets my boyfriend bought me come in at a very close second.
What pet were you most thrilled to get and why?
ReplyDeleteThe pet that I was most thrilled to get was my Disgusting Oozeling. To my knowledge this little guy was the only pet in the game who affected my character display, he also is one of two pets who will chug Dark Iron Ale. Having an interactive pet that turned me completely green always made him stand out. He also perfectly matched the slime filled background of Undercity where I spend most of my time.
Pet I was most thrilled to get? Hm, this seems to change all the time. Currently, it is my Cenarion Hatchling. I'd written it off as one I wasn't going to get because I can't afford to buy pets, even if it's for charity. Then a friend of mine bought 3 right before the charity event ended, and gave me one completely at random! I declared it a belated birthday present and have the little guy following me on all my characters. Sooner or later, I'll want to see something else, but right now that hatchling makes me think of my friend and smile every time.
ReplyDeleteHmm... The pet that I was most thrilled of getting would've been probably say was the Winterspring Cub. Although it's not a very high pet on the rarity scale, it constantly reminds me of many memories that I've had.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I ever heard of World of Warcraft was when I was watching my dad play, and he asked me which cat he should use for his hunter pet; a black panther from Stranglethorn Vale, or a rare teal snow tiger NPC from Winterspring named Rak'Shiri (who now goes by the name of Casper). Since snow tigers were (and are) my favourite animal, I instantly said Rak'Shiri.
A few years later in 2007, I started playing WoW and created a Blood Elf hunter of my own to level and gear. Once I hit level 56, I immediately went to Winterspring where Rak'Shiri spawns to camp him. After countless unlucky days, my dad decided to log onto my account after I went to sleep to see if he could try and tame him to surprise me; a few nights went by and eventually he tamed it on my character. The next morning, I woke up and he was already downstairs playing WoW on his CPU next to me; however, all he did was smile at me and told me to log on my character. Being incredibly curious, I logged on as he requested, and once it went to the character log in page there he was! My dream pet standing right there next to my character. To this day, my dad and I still have our matching hunter pets together; Cuddles and Casper.
So I guess to answer your question, this is my favourite mini pet because it brings back the memory of farming for Rak'Shiri, since there are many lavender snow tigers roaming around in his spawn area. However, both Cuddles and this Winterspring Cub also remind me of not just my dad taming pets and helping me in WoW, but helping me through any obstacles that I encounter in RL as well.
That's easy for me! I'd been trying in vain to get my hands on an Ethereal Soul Trader for the longest time by buying trading cards :P I was mentioning this to one of my friends at a get together the other month and he pipes up with "OH, one of my friends has one of those that he's trying to sell.....he doesn't collect pets..." I dang near pounced on him to text his friend STRAIGHT AWAY! A week later the beautiful bounty was mine!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that I was most thrilled to get the magical crawdad. It took me forever to get Mr. Pinchy and when I finally got him, I got the pet on the first use! My girlfriend was more excited than I was. She only watches me play WoW when I am going through my pet and mount collection XD
ReplyDeleteI loved getting my Singing Sunflower. It's the very first thing I did when Cata hit. I never played Plants vs Zombies, so I had a tough time with the last couple of levels. I always get this pet for my alts.
ReplyDeleteI was the most excited when I finally received my Kirin Tor Familiar. I had spent so much time going from book spawn to book spawn searching for anything. It had gotten so bad (:P) that I had converted my guild into getting this pet. We had a macros made, timers, and "watch" shifts set up. It was such a crowning moment when my entire guild got this amazing pet.
ReplyDeleteDifficult question. I've screamed like a schoolgirl following several rare drops, but the one that made me scream like a BUSLOAD of schoolgirls was the Dark Whelpling. It was one of the first and certainly longest grinds I've ever done, spanning many months. I farmed that circuit like a zombie, barely even seeing what I looted. Then it dropped. My fingers floated off the keyboard and mouse and froze for several seconds until my brain caught up with what I was seeing. And then, well, the screaming :)
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time, many years in the past, there was a baby shaman. This shaman knew very little of the world, but she was eager to learn of the worlds surrounding her and had an eye for pretty things.
ReplyDeleteOne day our little shaman was mulling about in the great city of Shattrath, biding her time doing only Elune knows what, when a phoenix streaked across the sky. The bright colors and streaming tail immediately caught the shaman's attention, as well as her heart. Greatly excited by such a sighting, she asked her then slightly more experienced friend what such a mount was called. "Why, that's Ashes of Al'ar," said the priest. "We'll teach you how to raid and then we'll get you that mount. We'll farm Tempest Keep so much the whole guild will have that mount!" Greatly excited by this prospect the nub shaman set about dying endlessly in raids, all for the sake of gearing up and learning how to kill internet dragons in order to obtain her dream mount. Sadly the expansion passed, the guild never defeated Kael'thas, and for the time being the shaman's dreams of obtaining the legendary mount were slowly being crushed.
Soon a great threat arose in the northern lands of Azeroth and the shaman found herself trudging about in the frozen tundra of Northrend. Her dream of the phoenix still burned in her heart, but her hopes for ever obtaining the mount dwindled. However, she soon learned of another phoenix that existed in the world: the Phoenix Hatchling. "How perfect!" she thought. "If I can't have the mount, at least I can still have the next best thing." So off she set with her then trusty bear druid companion to the Isle of Quel'Danas to take on the foes that resided in the Magister's Terrace.
For days the pair struggled against blood elves who would stand between the shaman and her dream of having a phoenix companion of her very own. Hour after hour they slayed bosses in hopes that their pockets contained the little egg of her desires. Hour after hour were met with disappointment.
A week had passed. Perhaps it had been more. The duo could no longer remember, they had farmed those elves for so long. Finally, after many hours of farming one evening, Kael'thas (brought back many times despite his set backs) finally huffed, puffed, and dropped a phoenix hatchling that had "Saz" written all over him.
His name is Pheo, and to this day that little hatchling is still my favorite pet. Anytime I get a character over level 80 I begin to farm for it. He's become my good luck charm; any time I'm struggling to farm up a rare, having a bad raid night, or just need a bit of cheering, I summon forth my little fiery bird of happiness. To this day A'lar still remains to be but a dream, but at least I have the next best thing.
Just one...? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those folks that love fishing, cooking, archaeology (slight touch of insanity perhaps?)... and I heard about a crafty little creature called Mr Pinchy.
What did he look like? Where did he come from?? I knew I simply must have him! If nothing else, just to keep me company whilst travelling around the Outlands fishing my little heart out.
Many lines were cast and many days past by, and suddenly he appeared! I had then heard rumours that he possessed the power to grant me three wishes, and if I was lucky enough, he would stay with me forever. I crossed my fingers and asked for my first wish...
Mr. Pinchy decided that I did not warrant any battles or trickery, and wanted to be my friend. I love the little guy, and was excited for DAYS! Since then, Mr Pinchy and I have spent many lazy afternoons together fishing across Azeroth and beyond :)
My fave was the phoenix pet, when the dungeon came out i kept trying and trying to get it only to lose it on the roll. Finally when i hit 85 i noticed i could do the dungeon on my own. I did it for three weeks straight each day until i got it and it's been my main pet since.
ReplyDeletehmm most thrilled pet to get, kinda hard when i have 154 pets :D and been playing same char for 5 years xD, arhhh its so hard to choose, looking through my chars companions pages right now and so many stories behind each pet, i think it has to be toothy :D me and a friend was fishing when she got snarly >:O i was so jelous bc she didnt even collect pets xD , so i got the quest the next day and got toothy! was so happy hes such a cute pet one of my favs ^^
ReplyDeleteI would have to say the pet I was most thrilled about getting was the phoenix hatchling, because I'm obsessed with the phoenix mount, which I'm sure I'll never get, so the hatchling is the next best thing!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is so tough.
ReplyDeleteI almost have diff favorites for each of my toons;
the fox kit I finally got on an alt dk,
the phoenix hatchlings that took awhile on my priest,
mr pinchy that i fished 13 straight hours for (8 of them after i accidently closed the loot screen and lost it),
the the kirin tor on my lvl 25,
the searing scorchling that finally dropped years after i farmed it alot,
or even the hyancith macaw i finally got for 5k gold (and 5k fruitless kills)...
But, I'll go w/ the Celestial Dragon, looks awesome and cool movements and is my raiding buddy!
The pet that I was most thrilled to get was my Lil' Smoky. He was a rather unique pet at the time, only being available to engineers who went Gnomish instead of Goblin, and made a very distinctive "whirwhirwhirwhir" sound. He became a bit of an unofficial mascot on my guild's raids for just that reason.
ReplyDeletei was most thrilled for the searing scorchling because i play a shaman and i would love to have a mini fire elemental by my side... now i just need to get the elusive pet >.<
ReplyDeleteThe pet I was most thrilled to get was the Hyacinth Macaw. A guildie/friend of mine told me she had a surprise for me and traded me a wrapped gift. When I opened it, it was the hyacinth macaw. I was so shocked to see it! Since they sell for over 10k gold on my server, I pretty much told myself I'll just have to deal with not ever getting him. My friend had told me it dropped off of a random pirate while leveling her alt, and that she thought I would like it. I was just so so thrilled and happy she gave it to me.
ReplyDeleteSo difficult to choose...
ReplyDeleteThe pet I was most thrilled to get for myself is probably the Lashtail Hatchling, considering the lengthy quest chain behind it. It's not just a baby raptor, it's MY baby raptor.
The pet I was most thrilled to get for somebody else... well, my boyfriend had been grumpy for a while because he'd been outbid at the last moment on a Murky on eBay. Then a screenshot contest was announced with Gurky codes as prizes, so I entered - so that, if I won, I could give him the code rather than keep the pet myself. I wasn't expecting to, but I actually won.
Easy question!
ReplyDeleteMy Windrider Cub! I have him out on all my toons all the time, whether they be Horde or Alliance :D
The windriders have been my favorite mounts and when they released the pet at the blizzard petshop I had to have it! The plushy is really adorable as well.
The pet I would be most excited to get now would be one of those little mini horses that run around Hillsbrad! I own, raise and train miniature horses in rl so it would just be purrfect!
I think my Most treasured moment of longing towards a pet was when i obtained my Baby crocolisk Chuck.
ReplyDeleteI play a forsaken mage, and long had i wanted to exchange my Dreaded cockroach that had been following me around making every situation feel more awkward than they already were with my rotten face.
When i headed into terrokar i met a strange Old man called Barlo who wanted me to catch crocolisk babies in the waters of Orgrimmar. I searched for awhile and then i found it, a cute little devil that almost bit my hand off.
I returned with the crocolisk to the man, Sure of the fact that the reward sack i would recieve would only contain Rubbish. the man looked at me in pity when i tried to wave away the cockroach that tried to sit on top of my head. He gave me the bag of treasures and i strolled away into the city while opening it.
I couldnt believe what i saw. My previous movements froze as the little Moss-green crocolisk from before peeked out of the bag, gazing at me with eyes as big as frostbolts. he snapped his jaws at me in content, unaware of the fact that we were going to be friends for a long time.
I found Chuck in 2008 and now we raid the Firelands together. He is my most treasured companion that i had longed for, unknowingly.
My favorite pets tend to be the ones I worked really hard to get, like the Fox Kit or Kirin Tor Familiar. But my favorite one that took a lot of rep grinding would have to be the Tiny Sporebat. I loved BC, the spore bats are just so cute and just flow. He's so tiny and cute I just want to pinch his cheeks!
ReplyDeleteI was sooo excited when I finally got my magical crawdad! I leveled fishing in outlands just trying to catch mr. pinchy. He granted me the pet on the second wish :) I was so worried I'd get really unlucky and have to fish up ANOTHER...
ReplyDeleteI am just starting to collect pets. About two months ago I accidentally got Mr. Grubbs to drop. He is my favorite because he is what got me started in this quest to find them all. When I realized what Mr. Grubbs was I starting looking into other pets to find. I started doing Archeology so that I could get the Fossilized Hatchling. I have gotten that and now I have all together 5 others. I owe it all to Mr. Grubbs for accidentally showing me a pet!!
ReplyDeleteI'm always excited when it comes to pets, mounts and companion pets.. but the one companion pet I can remember going crazy over was the Winterspring cub. I've had my mount for years and when I heard about the pet and that it was actually VENDOR BOUGHT I just could not believe it. I had to fly straight to Winterspring to check it out... Oh its soooo adorable - especially next to his older relative. Other than that maybe the Oooooooh so stinky Oozeling? Mostly because that was such a shock and surprise to get.
ReplyDeletevampiric batling, reminds me of all the good kara times, the invasion. Different than the tirisfal version. Not obtainable. Its a very rare pet and i liked the fight with Mirkblood! Defniately one of my favorite pets.
ReplyDeleteAlways think of the massive zombie "BRAINS!" raids in the cities, being a zombie, the amazing fight, and all of the uniqueness put into it!
The Searing Scorchling. I finally got it just recently from the Firelands daily area, after years of not getting it from Ahune, and the thought that I wouldn't be able to get it after Blizz replaced him with the Frigid Frostling.
ReplyDeleteThe pet I was most excited to get was the Phoenix Hatchling. I wanted it from the very first day I saw it. My fiance ran me through MT countless times, at least once a day every day. Finally it dropped and he passed on the roll :) I always have him out and I think he is one of the best looking companions in game. The worg is also a favorite, he was the first pet I purposely went out and tried for while I was leveling.

ReplyDeleteSorry for the double post! I couldn't get my aol name to work and switched to google.
The disgusting oozeling. After farming the slimes in Felwood, plague lands and other places alike for ages, I finally started a death knight in early WOTLK. After farming the cave with the blue elite slimes for weeks, I finally got it. I proceeded trying out every possible mount in both the green ooze aura, and shadow form. Got shouted at for weeks after that for using it in raids. To this moment I still believe it is among my top five pets, and I really love my little green blob!
ReplyDeleteRumiko@VashjEU
Even if Whiskers is one of my very first, id still have to choose Withers!
ReplyDeleteI got so excisted when i realised that i can get it as horde. Not only does he change apperance, But since i used to run as a restro druid his shape reminds me of the days my druid looked like that. Not as gray and "burned out" ofc. (even dough this suits my warlock)
And not only does he look neat, he is one of those pets that can come to an advantage in Battlegrounds and arena aswell. Pull out the tree, toss a papa hummels pet biscquit on him and "bom" you got yourself what apperes to be a giant druid healer. :)
So Withers is neat looking and handy ^^
My favorite pet so far have to be the Moonkin Hatchling to be honest. Some other are close cause of the time I spent trying to get them but the moonkin hatchling with his dancing beats it all.
ReplyDeleteI have been a bit against this pets and mounts you can by in the online shop but this one really made me shut up an pay up =)
My favourite pet to get wasn't one specific pet but rather three - the original Collector's Edition pets: Diablo, Zergling and Panda Cub. It was before you could just upgrade your account to CE via Battle.Net (in fact, it was before the B.Net account merger altogether), and my account was originally not a CE account at all. Around 2006, however, I snagged a copy of the original WoW CE on eBay for about £300 (which was a lot of money for my student self), simply because I wanted the pets - I created a brand new account, moved my characters there and petitioned the GMs to grant me the Voucher one uses to redeem the pets. Interestingly, I got a reasonable GM on an alt who was willing to help me out; when I petitioned on my main, I had to convince the GM I got - using my other character as evidence! - that it didn't contradict the company policy in any way. All in all, it was a pretty epic adventure; these days, with BoA pets and the B.Net accounts, things would've been so much easier. But that's part of what made it memorable!
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough question, but the pet that immediately came to mind is the Magical Crawdad. I spent so much time fishing for Mr. Pinchy... I lost the first one I caught due to one of those huge elite trees coming towards me and I panicked and accidently closed the loot window before I could click the "Accept" button to loot him. Second Mr. Pinchy didn't give me the pet. I had to catch a third Mr. Pinchy before I finally got my beloved Magical Crawdad.
ReplyDeleteAt least I made enough gold selling Spicy Crawdads and Golden Fish Sticks to pay for my epic flying mount, lol.
I'd have to say my Mini Tyrael! It is the first contest prize I've ever won my life, I won it in the 2008 Curse Olympic Pose Contest :) such an exciting day, I love the design and animation too plus it's one of my favorite Diablo characters lore wise.
ReplyDeleteThough...
Deathy is a close second lol, I mean come on Deathwing in murloc form! Whats not to love? xD
I was most excited about getting my Nuts because I really felt rewarded for collecting all of those pets over the years :D it made my day
ReplyDeleteTiny Emerald Whelping, it was the last one for all the whelpings and the hardest one to find. Statistically I shuld have gotten it 1000 tiny green dragons kills ago.
ReplyDeleteI think it was Murkimus. It was the last day and me, my brother and my 2v2 arena friend still needed all the games. We started early and got done late. Unfortunately he stopped soon after and I haven't heard from him since. Murkimus reminds me of him every time I summon him.
ReplyDeleteProbably my hyacinth macaw, it's not really one of my favorite pets, but it was a gift from my husband. I love him so much and every time I see it anywhere in the game I think of him first. <3
ReplyDeleteMy Lashtail Hatchling was probably the pet I've been most thrilled to get. The background story, and then finally being able to go and rescue her, was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteParticularly as I don't raid so my gear isn't outstanding, being able to go and defeat Mandokir and rescue Kintarah'aka was very special :D
Definitely my Sprite Darter Hatchling! I'd only just discovered what mini pets were, and searched through them all looking for the one I wanted the most; then realising I was the perfect level for the Ferelas quests, it just felt meant to be! I loved the quest chain; there was a little bit of everything and I was really engrossed! Still one of my most used pets now :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be Speedy. When I did this 'long' questchain on my lowbie priest in vanilla, I barely knew the world. Traveling all over the place was a great adventure and meeting several lore figures was great. Speedy still holds a special place in my collection as a result :)
ReplyDeleteThe pet I was most thrilled to get was definetly Tiny Emerald Whelping
ReplyDeleteIt was the first pet I decided to farm, many years ago (when they still occupied bag slots) I brought my druid (with skinning) to farm and skin them for fasters respawns, I gained two and a half levels before it finally dropped.
I later gave it to my main when they became spells (and the item became unbound)
I definitely love getting a pair (mount + pet) that match... and therefore, the pet I was most thrilled to get was my Wintersaber Cub!!
ReplyDeleteI finaly met the requirements to buy my Wintersaber mount a couple of weeks before they released the Wintersaber Cub and I was proud of myself for getting that rep (I hate repeatable quests)... so when they announced they had a little one that match, I was thrilled!!
